Give your three, four or five year old child a head start for their first year of formal schooling at Ready Set Prep.

Ready Set Prep has been developed with insights gained from international examples, including the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates, where children as young as three years attend school-based classes.

Ready Set Prep is held in a home-like environment to provide your child with a safe and relaxed location.

What to Expect at RSP

Ready Set Prep gives your child the tools and support they need to ensure they are prepared for their first year of school.

Group sessions are limited smaller numbers to accommodate effective learning.

Sessions are fun and engaging – tailored to your child’s development stage.

Pre-reading skills: Phonological awareness and vocabulary.

Pre-writing skills: Fine/gross motor skills, pencil grip and letter formation.

Numeracy: Number recognition, counting and mathematical language exposure.

Social: Listening skills, organisational skills, turn taking, sharing and following instructions.

Emotional: Building resilience, confidence and emotional regulation.

  • Drop off
Once you have dropped off your child, they will make themselves at home in the boutique classroom environment.

  • Two hour learning sessions
Then your child will engage in interactive learning opportunities in literacy and numeracy. Each session is 2 hours long, the perfect learning length developmentally for your child.

  • Short break
A short break is taken halfway through our session together and your child is offered a light snack. All dietary needs are catered for. During this break we engage in social conversations and often a mindfulness podcast.

  • Small Groups
Each session is conducted with small groups lead by a teacher and a teaching assistant, assuring your child is always heard and learning needs are responded to.

  • Weekly newsletters
After each week you will receive an informative email outlining what your child has learnt and how you can further enrich their learning at home. This also provides you with an opportunity to provide feedback as we foster strong connections between our educators and parents.

FAQs

How many classes a week should my child attend?

We recommend that your child attends once a week. If we feel they need extra classes as school approaches we will chat to you about this as some children do benefit from the repetition of two classes in a week.

How many children and how many teachers in each group?

Most of our groups are capped at 8 children. As the children become more independent we may increase our groups to 10 children however we like to keep our groups very small so we can cater for all of our student's individual needs. Each class has a teacher and a teaching assistant.

Do parents stay?

As this is a school readiness program where children are preparing to go to school the parents are not invited to stay. They may come and see the classroom at drop off but are asked to leave promptly and return at the end of class. Please let us know if you feel your child will require extra support with separation and we can make a plan with you.

My child has NDIS funding can we use this to pay for the term?

Yes! NDIS funding may be used for both plan managed and self managed students. Please share your child's reports with their teacher's when enrolling and discuss your child's goals. We will work together with you and their allied health professionals to ensure we are meeting their needs.

Is one term enough? When should my child start?

One term is really not enough. We ideally like our students to complete the full academic year with us as the learning progresses each term. Some of our parents sent their oldest child to us for a term in the past but are now enrolling their second child at the age of three as they can see the benefit in the program.

If my child comes to Ready Set Prep, does it replace Kindergarten?
Kindergarten is an incredibly important developmental part of preparing for school and all children should be encouraged to go. Ready Set Prep is designed to work in unison with kindergarten programs, enhancing your child's skills in a smaller group environment.

Do you offer free trial classes?

Due to the limited spaces in our classes we do not offer a trial class. You will be required to pay for a term upfront.

Can I bring a friend?
We welcome you to refer our program to your friends and will offer you a discount for bringing a friend if they decide to enrol. Your friend must contact Ready Set Prep and pay for the term to attend a class. Places are subject to availability.

Will my child be bored when they go to school if they attend your classes?

Ready Set Prep is a school readiness program designed to aid children with the transition to school. We aim to give them a taste of a prep classroom but in a small supportive environment and only for two hours. We want our students to be confident and capable learners when they enter school. We cannot possibly teach them the whole prep curriculum in the two hours they attend each week.
